When they got back to the room, there was already a wall of clues set up. Erno was reviewing the wall, trying to make a connection between each clue as Edward had his eyes glued to the computer screen.

“Erno, write this down! Our suspect left Jami’s party that evening and went straight to the bank the next morning to make a withdrawal from LaPhantasha’s account in which she was authorized. This was before Jami had the chance to have her removed. Amount of withdrawal was two hundred thousand dollars.”

“Wait, I never authorized her to withdraw from that account.” Jami said with a frown. “She was only allowed access to one small separate account that was strictly for paying the band.”

Erno wrote down the details before responding. “That means that she had connections on the inside at the bank. It’s possible that she might have used said connection to withdrawal funds several more times.”

Edward took out the ledger he used to keep track of Jami’s personal finances. He added up the total amount spent by Jami herself since he had become her manager. Then, he compared it to several withdrawals that occurred soon after the old manager’s dismissal. “And use those connections, she did. Eight more times! The withdrawals stopped after the date of our launch party.”

She giggled. “I thought that I would do this in return for you letting me spend the night! I’m sorry that I’ve never tried my hand at cooking before, so they may be a bit off.”

“I’m sure they’re good just the same,” the artist replied with a smile as she got out the syrup. “Would you share them with me? I normally don’t have much of an appetite and I would hate to see them go to waste.”

“Of course.” she nodded, then found plates and separated the portions before giving her a plate and keeping one to herself.

While Mara was separating portions, Elle made a pot of her famous cherry flavored coffee for the two to share. When it was done, she poured the cups and set them on the table, along with sugar and milk. She took her plate and sat it on the table before grabbing the silverware, napkins, and syrup. Finally, she sat at the table and took a bite out of one of the pancakes.

“These are wonderful!”

The next morning, Mara awoke with a small yawn and she sat up to stretch. Realising that she was the only one awake, she stood up and went into the kitchen, planning on making something. Though she didn’t know what Elle liked… a moment later- she had reviewed every cookbook she had ever read and decided on simple blueberry pancakes.

After deciding such, she started to make them and soon they were done. If not a little burnt.

Elle finally woke up to the smell of slightly burnt blueberry pancakes. Sitting up in her bed, she stretched her limbs before getting out of bed. Her hair was a complete mess, but she decided to see how her guest was fairing in the kitchen. A surprised smile formed on her face when she saw the pancakes. “You didn’t have to make breakfast for me, but thank you!”

Elle nodded. “If there’s anything you need during the night, don’t be afraid…

She shook her head. “No, I think that I’m good.” she put the clothes on quickly and laid down in the bed with a small smile and soon started to drift off to sleep.

Once the girl was asleep, Elle went into her own bedroom. She kept the door open just in case he guest had any needs. The artist then changed into night clothes, then nestled under the covers. Soon, she was asleep.
